HOW TO GET THE MAXIMUM EFFORT OF YOUR EMPLOYEES TO SUCCEED AS A LEADER
How do you get the most out of your employees, the first thing you have to note is that as a business leader, one of the most valuable If not the most valuable assets that you can have are your team, so the questions and the challenge are always how to get the most out of your team mates, the challenges for everybody is also a challenge for me as well, because I believe all the years I’ve learned so many things.
Now the biggest problem with most business is not that they don’t have good people, sometimes they just have bad people, that’s a different story, but assuming you’ve got some good people, how do you get them working together, to have a very clear vision, because imagine you’d got a group of people working but they’re all pulling in different directions, where you want to go one direction and your team members wants to go the other direction, you’re fighting against your own team versus when you have that clear vision and I’ve noticed that when you don’t have clarity, your team also won’t have clarity but when you have that clear vision and everybody knows “okay, this us the objective, this is where we’re going, this is what we want to accomplish” everybody is on the same page.
Everybody could move forward in the right direction, so right now if you go back and ask your employees, the vision for your company, do you know Where you want go be In the next quarter, do you know where you want to be in the next 12 months, ask all the people with your company how many of them could answer that and would their answer he the same, if the answer won’t be the same there’s something that you want to work on, so that’s the first thing.
The second thing you need are your core values, your core values is exactly how you want them to think and how you want them to operate when you’re not there.
Right, so your core values would Help your employees to make decisions, this is the moral compass, these are the guidelines. This is how they should behave and how they should operate your core values, again it’s all design so everybody is working on the same page and also working at the same pace and rhythm versus you working at a certain rhythm and your team are working at a certain rhythm.
That’s not so good but everybody needs to be working at the same rhythm, it’s like rowing a boat and just imagine, you have like 20 people on a boat and everybody is rowing differently rhythm, different speeds, different directions, it’s a mess.
That’s what happened to most business and now the last tip I want to give you is this, now assuming you’ve got the vision, you got the core values and everybody is on the same page and pace, same rhythm.
Now you have to make sure you have the right people in the right seat, you can have the best people but if you put them in the wrong seat, then you’re not utilizing their talents and expertise properly, then it’s not going to work, now you can have the wrong people, meaning it’s the right seats and functions for the business but you have the wrong people doing those tasks, it’s not going to work either.
And how would you know? The only way to know is Having an accountability system in place, kpi’s – key performance indirection in place, then you would know that the person is supposed to do it, is this the right time or the right person for that person and you would know relatively quickly, so that’s how you make the most out of your team and maximize the performance of your team.
